Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange, has expressed profound grief at the death of St George's College footballer Dominic James.
The St George's College student collapsed shortly after the start of his school's Manning Cup game with Excelsior High at Stadium East yesterday.
"Like the rest of the country I am very sad to receive this news. Young Dominic, by all indications, had been doing well. This is quite a shock, all of Jamaica will mourn with his family and with his school at this time. We all must keep them in our prayers and in our hearts," the sports minister said.
Jamaica Football Federation president Captain Horace Burrell, also expressed his deepest condolences to the family of James and the St Georges College fraternity; the ISSA family and all those who 'played with and knew this talented son of Jamaica.'
Schoolboy football sponsors FLOW also issued a statement late yesterday.
"Condolences on the Passing of Dominic James, St. George's College Manning Cup captain," FLOW said.
It added: "Our thoughts are with Dominic's family, friends and the wider St Georges College community at this time and we express our deepest sympathies to them. We are very saddened by the passing of this promising, young Jamaican talent."
