Several sporting events have been postponed for this weekend ahead of the passage of Hurricane Matthew, which is forecast to affect the island within the next two days.

All Netball Jamaica activities in Kingston and St Andrew are off, while in golf, the fifth leg of the Inter-Club Championship, scheduled for Manchester Golf Course has also been postponed until further notice.

In a release yesterday, Netball Jamaica advised that National training and Under-21 trials have been postponed. The association has called on its affiliates and others to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

Meanwhile, the Premier League Clubs Association said yesterday that they are in contact with all the local services and will make a decision, possibly today, on whether tomorrow's Red Stripe Premier League football matches will take place as scheduled.
