Expect storming pace from Another Fury
ANOTHER FURY won like an out-of-class horse two weeks ago, accelerating rapidly in the last furlong to clock 1:18.1 for 1300 metres - a second slower than BRAWN's 1:17.1, posted a half-hour earlier in the open allowance Saint Cecelia Cup in which he beat DREAMCOMETRUE and CAMPESINO.
There will be a lot of speed in Saturday's Ronron Trophy, but ANOTHER FURY is back to her best and perfectly drawn at gate 11 in the 12-horse field to stalk the expected pacesetters.
Partnered by lightweight Wesley Henry in her last race, ANOTHER FURY left the gate vying for the lead with the speedy duo of MISS MYRTLE and GOLD MINER but was taken in hand down the backstretch.
ANOTHER FURY straightened third, behind splits of 23.0 and 46.2, before one tap of the whip had him charging forward to go past the two leaders with close to a furlong and a half left in the race.
The grey filly zipped past the half-furlong marker in 1:11.1, winning unchallenged in an impressive performance.
Highly thought of as a two-year-old when she clocked 1:20.1 for the exact distance last November on her second start, ANOTHER FURY was rushed into the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes a month later and ran well for the first half-mile before weakening.
She returned in January but disappointed among non-winners-of-two before going on a four-month lay-up, racing twice in April over contrasting distances, 1000 metres round and 1820 metres.
Trainer Fitzroy Glispie gave her some more time off, brought her back in July and used three runs to get her back to her best, culminating in her big win on last.
Since then, she has flown at exercise, clocking 1:07.0 for five and a half, beating her more seasoned stablemate, BIRDCATCHER , who posted 1:07.3
