Good defending is one of the reasons Hydel High School have emerged from the tight first round Group G of the ISSA-FLOW Manning Cup.

Hydel's defence unit is led by captain Maleek Campbell, but according to the school's coach, Donovan Duckie, left back Peter Green is catching the eye as well. Most recently, in Hydel's last Group G game, Green impressed with fine positional play, well-timed tackles and accurate passing.

Compact but speedy, Green repeatedly repelled attacks mounted by St Jago High at the Prison Oval in an October 12 game that secured a second-round berth for Hydel. Right after that encounter, coach Duckie revealed that Green's performances are attracting attention from interests in football.

"I'm going to tell you something about Peter Green", he began. "They have been eyeing Peter Green from abroad and there is a lot of Premier League teams that are asking about him also," he revealed.

Duckie shares the same high opinion of his young defender.

"I could tell you", he evaluated, "easily he's the man, the defender of the round, along with our captain that has been very good but Green has been very consistent."

With Campbell and Green on duty, Hydel only conceded six goals in the 10 matches the Ferry school contested in Group G.
