Hydel showing depth in the distances
Hydel High have competed on the road twice this season, at the Mico 5K and the Burger King Portmore 10K, and on both occasions they showed that there is depth in the middle and long distances at the school.
At the Mico 5K, Hydel, led by Monifa Green, dominated proceedings with Green a runaway winner in the event. Her teammates also did very well.
With all the big guns turning up in Portmore on Sunday to compete in the very popular 4x1500 metres relay, they had another dominant performance. They entered two teams and both finished among the top three with Green leading her team to an easy victory.
After getting the baton in second spot from lead off runner Jade Jones, she easily took control to open up a big gap giving both Marshell Pearce and Shanique Masters little to do on the final two legs.
They won easily ahead of a strong Edwin Allen High team with the Hydel "B" team coming in third, ahead, of the likes of Vere Technical, St Jago and Holmwood Technical.
Kingston College, led by Shane Buchanan, won the high school boys 4x1500 metres.
