Western Bureau:

Champions St Elizabeth Technical High School and the red-hot Cornwall College will lead the charge for a place in the semi-finals of the 2016 ISSA-Flow daCosta Cup football competition this afternoon, each needing just a point to cement their spot.

STETHS may still be smarting from last Saturday's sudden- death penalty shoot-out loss to Wolmer's in the FLOW Super Cup, and no better way to get them back in prime form than having their number one title on the line.

The daCosta Cup defending champions will take on Petersfield in Santa Cruz, and head coach Omar Wedderburn has been trumpeting his school's love affair with the rural-area trophy, therefore, a strong performance is on the cards.

special place

Vere Tech (three points) and Fair Prospect (zero) will compete in the zone's other fixture at the Wembley Community Centre.

"We want to win all the trophies on offer, but we have a special place in our hearts for the daCosta Cup. That is the big one, and we intend to defend it with everything we have," Wedderburn said.

There should be no such issues for the high-flying Cornwall College. They will tackle Manchester in a top-of-the-table clash in the first of two matches at Jarrett Park at 1 p.m. Rusea's and Lennon will meet in the second match at that venue starting at 3 p.m.

Cornwall are still on a high, after beating Clarendon College in the FLOW Super Cup semis. Their man to watch is leading goal-getter Jourdaine Fletcher, who is approaching 30 goals in all competitions this season.

They remain undefeated this season with head coach Dr Dean Weatherly hailing his charges as mature and confident ahead of the clash.

"We are beginning to come into our own. I think we can go really far," he said.
