KC grab semi spot

Kingston College are the first semi-finalists in this year's ISSA-FLOW Manning Cup competition.

The North Street-based school defeated Bridgeport High 3-0 at the Spanish Town Prison Oval yesterday to top Group J ahead of Charlie Smith High on goal difference. Charlie Smith defeated St Andrew Technical High 1-0 at the Constant Spring Complex.

Both schools ended on five points with KC having a plus three goal difference and Charlie Smith, plus one.

In Spanish Town, Nathan Smith opened the scoring for KC in the 17th minute and Rashawn Mackison doubled the score three minutes later (20th). Fabian Grant completed the scoring in the 33rd minute.

At Constant Spring Charlie Smith had their chances to win by a greater margin but could only find the back of the net once. Kemar James scored the winning goal in the 70th minute.

"We wanted to win by about four goals but it did not happen, we only got one, but we it feels good to score and help the team," James told STAR Sports.
