Small hails Wolmer's Old Boys
With his Heroes Circle-based school poised to win a possible three trophies this season, Wolmer's Boys principal Dr Walton Small has hailed the invaluable role played by the "very active" alumni association.
The 10-time Manning Cup champions captured the prestigious ISSA-FLOW Super Cup one week earlier, and last Saturday night made light work of Kingston College enroute to this weekend's big Manning Cup final against Jamaica College.
A very happy Small, who believes Wolmer's will add the Manning Cup and all-island Olivier Shield titles to their Super Cup crown, did not disclose a figure but notes that the support is overwhelming.
"Presence, funds, the resources that we need are provided. We are one of the fortunate schools where we have the resources to take care of our team, and that for me is one of the very serious positives about Wolmer's," he explained after his school strode into its second final since 2013.
Coach Vassell Reynolds, who described last Saturday's win as one of their biggest of the season, also underlined the help they have been getting from the school's old boys and other members of the school's community.
"It has been tremendous - the management, the school fraternity, the school community led by the principal and the staff, the students, and the parents - we are glad for all the support, this has been a significant boost to our programme," Reynolds underlined.
