Jourdaine Fletcher ... could take the field for Montego Bay United.

 

Montego Bay United maintained their top position when they edged struggling Waterhouse 2-1 in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) at Wespow Park in St James yesterday.

Cornwall College daCosta Cup schoolboy star Jourdaine Fletcher entered the field as a substitute in the 40th minute and found the winner in his debut for MBU in the 68th minute. Before that, Deandre Brow gave the visitors the lead in the 40th minute. MBU's captain and national midfielder Dwayne Ambusley equalised for the home side in the 51st minute.

Then, the 18 year-old Fletcher who was a top scorer in the daCosta Cup competition last year scored the all-important goal for his new club. following a transfer from Falkland United.

Waterhouse finished the game with ten players after Nicholy Finlayson was ejected in the 66th minute.

With the victory, MBU pushed to 38 position while Waterhouse remained on 17 points in 11th position.

In another result, Tivoli Gardens remained in second position after they defeated promoted Maverley-Hughenden 1-0, courtesy of a 90th minute strike by Elton 'Juice' Thompson.

Arnett Gardens started the new year in fine style when they beat the University of the West Indies (UWI) 5-3 at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in Trench Town.
