New-look Boyz face Honduras in friendly
Reggae Boyz captain Je-Vaughn Watson is banking on a win for his new-look team when they face Honduras in a friendly at the BBVA Compass stadium in Houston, Texas, USA, tonight at 8:30.
Watson, who was appointed captain when Theodore Whitmore returned as interim coach back in September, told STAR Sports that the players are united and enthusiastic and are willing to 'fight' for a win.
"It (the team) is on the right path, even though it's a young team. The chemistry is good and when you have good chemistry you can do lots of good things," Watson said from his hotel in Houston yesterday.
"The last game we lost and losing is a habit so we have to try to win this game and step up the ranking," he added.
Watson blamed the weather and some inexperience for the 1-0 loss to the United States on February 3.
"The last game we put out a young team against a strong US team, and we played in a weather that a lot of the guys weren't used to. But we are still rebuilding ... we created a lot of chances and did not capitalise, so we are hoping when we go out tomorrow we can capitalise and score some goals," he said.
Honduras are using today's match to prepare for the remaining matches in the CONCACAF World Cup final-round qualifiers which resume next month.
