Davis targets triple Champs record
Edwin Allen standout Kevona Davis is confident it will be her against the girls' Class Three clock at this month's Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association/GraceKennedy Boys & Girls' Athletic Championships, with the teen signalling her intent to take all three events in record time.
"I want all records 100m, 200m and team record 4x100m," the confident athlete said after decimating the girls' Under-17 200m with a new record of 23.32 at last weekend's Digicel Grand Prix Final at the National Stadium.
"I expected to win, it was an easy race. I am very pleased with my performance today (Saturday)," Davis said.
And she reiterated that she wants to set new records.
"I will be working on my start. That is what I feel I will need to improve a little on, and it will help me go faster, but for sure, but my mindset is, I want all records; and I see myself doing it," a she said.
She already has last season's Class Three sprint double under her belt.
Last year the teen won the Class Three 100m in 11.63 and clocked 23.91 to capture the 200m.
Once she is fit this year, there could be no stopping her. The Girls' Champs Class Three 100m record of 11.50 is held by Shauna Helps of Wolmer's Girls'.
