Portmore one point away

Portmore United's Jermie Lynch (left) puts Tivoli Gardens defender Barrington Pryce under pressure during a Red Stripe Premier League match at the Edward Seaga Complex on March 1. Tivoli won 2-1.

Portmore United need to avoid defeat against Transvaal of Suriname in order to advance to the knockout stage of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship in Puerto Rico. Both teams meet in the final Group D game at Estadio Juan Ramon Loubriel today.

The Jamaican team leads the group on maximum six points from two games, followed by Transvaal (3), Puerto Rico FC (3) and Scholars International of the Cayman Islands, who are without a point.

A point for Portmore United will be enough to take them into the next round. However, a loss for Portmore will give Transvaal and hosts Puerto Rico FC a chance of advancing. Puerto Rico are down to play Scholars International, who are out of contention.
