Nugent takes aim at hurdles record
It has been an exceptional season so far for Excelsior's Class Three female athlete, Ackera Nugent and she is hoping to carry that momentum into Champs 2017.
Nugent will be competing in the 80m hurdles along with the 200m and after her championship dream was derailed a year ago she is confident of doing well this time around.
"I was not able to do well last year due to a hip injury but this time around I am hoping for better results," she said.
Nugent was a double winner at the Corporate Area Development Meet, winning both the 80m hurdles and 200m. Her sight is set on the hurdles record of 11.10 seconds set by Vere Technical's Britany Anderson a year ago.
"I will be aiming to break the hurdles record as I am in very good form and I have been healthy all season. In the 200m I will be hoping to challenge Edwin Allen's Kevona Davis," she continued.
"We have a great team at Excelsior this year and we are hoping to finish among the Top five," she said finally.
