Cemore Donald confident
Cemore Donald, Edwin Allen's 800m star, is confident of retaining her title at Champs. Donald, who won gold in the girls' Class Three last year, said that she would be looking to lead her team to triumph again.
She sped home in 2:09.98 comfortably ahead of Britney Brown (2:13.49) Manchester High and Shaquena Foote (2:14.67) of Petersfield High.
"Competition will be there, but I think I will win. I want to win two gold medals and contribute 18 points to my school as we look to retain our title and peak at the right time," Donald said.
Competing at the recent Digicel Grand Prix G.C. Foster Grand Finale, the teen easily outclassed her rivals in the Prix Girls' 800-Metre Run Under-17.
She took the title in a sizzling 2:08.82.2 ahead of Petersfield's Shaquena Foote (2:10.38 3) and teammate Rushana Dwyer, 2:13.76.
It will be five tough days of competition, but Donald is looking to go to Champs and do well before the CARIFTA Games.
"I expect to win at Champs in a time of 2:06 minutes. It feels nice to win. I have been doing well this season and just want to continue," she said.
