Any company that tries to seize an unfair advantage through the use of ambush marketing at this week's Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association/GraceKennedy Boys & Girls Athletic championships could find themselves in trouble with the law.

Chairman of the 'Champs' committee, Colleen Montague, made it clear at the March 1 launch of the 2017 event which starts tomorrow that the school sports' governing body would be taking a no tolerance approach to the practise on piggy backing on the sponsors of the high profile events by trying to find devious means of marketing their products.

"I say shame on you and to those who engage in ambush marketing. Our patrons will know who you are because we publicly acknowledge our legitimate and ho nest sponsors," she said.

"Any entity that infringes the intellectual property of ISSA, champs or the athletes will be pursued to the full extent of the law," she said.

ISSA took a full page advertisement in the local newspapers recently as it warned any company who may attempt to ambush market that they do so at their own peril.
