Premier League : Oh, what a rat race!
Four teams separated by six points are locked in a rat race for Premier League survival, hoping to avoid relegation in two games, three in the case of last-place Maverley, who have a match in hand against Reno.
The two teams promoted last season, Maverley-Hughenden and Jamalco are prime candidates on 28 and 29 points, respectively, trailing Waterhouse (34) and Boys' Town (32).
Former two-time champions Waterhouse need at least a point from two games to be safe for next season. Boys' Town, who sat at the bottom for four months, need at least three points from two games to ensure safety.
The last two teams at the completion of the preliminary stage, on April 16, will be relegated to their respective confederation leagues next season.
Setting a level playing field, the Professional Football Association of Jamaica's operation committee has rescheduled Maverley-Reno for Sunday.
However, the remaining two rounds of games in the league will be played on Wednesday, April 12, and Sunday April 16.
