Verone Chambers (left) does her best to challenge Dawnalee Loney, who won her heat of the women's 400m for clubs at the GC Foster Classic on March 11.

Maurice Wilson is pleased that at 400 metre runner Verone Chambers chose to stay in Jamaica rather than race abroad especially following her impressive 51.50 second personal best run at last weekend's Intercol championships.

Chambers, a former Edwin Allen Comprehensive High School and Oklahoma Baptist University track athlete, overtook Dawnlee Loney of the Mico University in front of an appreciative National Stadium audience to give GC Foster the women's crown.

"I'm very happy that we were able to assist because she made the decision to come to Jamaica to train with me so I felt I had an obligation to her," said Wilson.

"I am very, very happy with the results," he added after Chambers broke 52 seconds for the first time.
