Valiant Allen shines as Scorpions lose
The Jamaica Scorpions were crushed by eight wickets by the Windward Islands Volcanoes on the third day of ninth round match in the Regional four-day championship at Arnos Vale Stadium in St Vincent yesterday.
Allen who resumed on 72 went on to add five more as the Scorpions were dismissed for 262 in their second innings against Kyle Mayers 2 for 36. That was after they resumed the day on 249 for eight, a lead of only 82 runs.
In reply, the Volcanoes strolled to 96 for two in their second innings.
On Saturday, rookie Allen struck his second half-century in as many matches to hand Jamaica Scorpions a lifeline on the second day. Trailing by 167 runs on first innings, Scorpions found themselves in dire straits at 150 for six in their second innings, before the 21-year-old Allen arrived to stroke an unbeaten 72 and revive the innings.
