St Elizabeth Technical High School athlete Satanya Wright and the school itself were recognised with awards by Supreme Ventures Limited yesterday.

Wright, the winner of the Courtney Walsh Award for youth received a Samsung Tablet while the schools received $250,000 to go towards a project that will benefit its students.

Wright was nominated for the award on the basis that she exemplifies what a student-athlete can achieve through hard work and dedication. She also displays the type of attitude which enables the poor and disadvantaged to pick themselves up and create opportunities for their own upward mobility.

"I am so grateful to receive this award. It was unexpected as I never considered that doing my best would lead to an award and I'm forever grateful. I now feel that my long hours of training and then having to study late in the night is now being recognised and I feel like I'm on the right track," she said.
