NEW YORK, CMC – Young Jamaican forward Junior Flemmings netted his fourth goal of the season as New Red Bulls II broke a three-game losing skid with a 2-1 victory over Eastern Conference leaders Charleston Battery in the United Soccer League.

Winless since May 6 when they defeated Harrisburg City Islands, Red Bulls II produced a sterling effort to come from behind, after finding themselves 1-0 down at half-time at the MSU Soccer Park in New Jersey.

Charleston grabbed the lead on the stroke of half-time when Dane Marini was fouled on the edge of the 18-yard box and Justin Portillo stepped up to curl the resulting free kick into the upper right hand corner.

However, 21-year-old Flemmings started the Red Bulls comeback in the 54th minute, taking advantage of slack marking in the box to head home powerfully off Vincent Bezecourt’s left-sided corner.

And Derrick Etienne then grabbed the winner in the 75th minute when Flemmings was fouled by Portillo just outside the box, leaving the Haiti international to curl a powerful free kick in at the near post from 21 yards out for his first goal of the season.

At Goodman Stadium in Pennsylvania, Jamaican Cory Burke got on the scoresheet to help fire hosts Bethlehem Steel FC to a convincing 3-1 win over City Islanders.

Captain James Chambers put Steel ahead in the 39th before Liberian Seku Conneh doubled the lead in the 49th minute.

Danny DiPrime came off the bench to pull one back for City Islanders in the 80th but Steel made the points certain deep in injury time when DiPrimo clattered Josh Heard in the box and Burke sent the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot.
