June 14, 2017

JAMAICA last night went down 1-3 to Peru in an away friendly international, conceding two goals before half-time and a third in the 59th.

Recalled striker Jermaine Johnson, who came on in the second-half, netted a consolation penalty in the 85th minute after another substitute, Owayne Gordon, was brought down by a defender on the right side of the box.

Peru had Jamaica on the back foot for the entire first half. Edison Flores netted a simple tap-in after 21 minutes. The ball was palmed into his path by keeper Andre Blake, racing off his line to parry Guerrero’s lob at the top of the six-yard box.
Renato Tapia rose from amid a quartet of Jamaican defenders to direct a powerful header from a left-side corner past Blake in the 43rd.

Guerrero netted his second and the South Americans’ third in the 59th, rounding the keeper off  a through pass, subjecting the Reggae Boyz to a 10th loss in their last 15 international games.
