Jamaican Tyrone Nelson captured the feature $25,000 Free Press Stakes but Guyana's Rohan Singh stole most of the spotlight with a brilliant four-timer at Assiniboia Downs here Sunday.

Nelson partnered with 3-1 chance Media Melee in race six of the seven-race card to edge out the three-year-old and upwards going six furlongs in the day's only added-money event.

He pressed the pace set by the duelling Swiss Idol and Deadly Black Eagle before locking horns with Deady Black Eagle in the stretch and just getting up in the dying yards to win by three-quarters of a length in a time of one minute, 11:40 seconds.

Singh, who finished fourth aboard 9-1 bet Zdeno, made up for that disappointment by dominating the day's programme.

He opened his account in race one over 7-1/2 furlongs when he made all the running with favourite Stonehart Ridge to beat the three-year-old and upwards by 1-3/4 lengths.

Singh followed up in race four with another gate-to-wire effort, steering hot favourite Malibu Colony to a two-length win over the three-year-old and upwards going six furlongs.

His third victory of the day came in race five over 7-1/2 furlongs when he combined with 3-1 bet Joyful Glow to trounce the three-year-old and upward fillies and mares by 6-3/4 lengths.
