Nutramix double six domino tournament heads to Old Harbour
A fierce battle is expected to get under way at Gateway Plaza, Old Harbour, today as 64 teams compete for cash and numerous prizes in the first regional round of the Nutramix Double Six Domino Tournament.
The teams which comprise both male and female players have sharpened their skills and are on the hunt for the first prize of $50,000 cash, 100 baby chicks and 20 bags of animal feed, courtesy of Nutramix.
The team which finishes in second place will walk away with 50 baby chicks and 10 bags of animal feed.
The tournament seeks to create relationships and give back to farmers, while encouraging non-farmers to get involved in the agricultural industry. It also aims to celebrate the spirit of the domino game, a popular pastime for Jamaicans far and wide.
"This tournament is not just about playing domino. In fact, it is our way at Nutramix to engage our wider community in building relationships and supporting Jamaica," explained Winston Thomas, technical sales manager, Newport Mills, a sister company of Nutramix.
The stop in Old Harbour will be the first of eight regional games which will be held across the island.
Sixteen teams drawn from the winners and runners-up from each regional round will make it to the grand finale to face off on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at the Turtle River Park, Ocho Rios, St Ann.
