Fowler-Reid promises swift return home after ANZ title win
Jamaica Sunshine Girls shooter Jhaniele Fowler-Reid said she will be back in Jamaica soon after leading her the Southern Steel to a comfortable 69-53 victory over the Central Pulse to claim the inaugural ANZ Premiership title in Invercargill on Tuesday.
Fowler-Reid, who plies her trade in New Zealand, turned in a brilliant performance as the Southern Steel capped a perfect season with an unbeaten 16 wins.
Fowler-Reid, who is top scorer in this season's competition, netted 56 goals in the Steel's victory and afterwards said she would be available to represent the Sunshine Girls at the Caribbean Netball Championships in August.
"I will be back in Jamaica by the end of June, and I will definitely make myself available for the Caribbean tournament," said Fowler-Reid.
However, she said would be meeting with the Netball Jamaica to discuss the way forward for Sunshine Girls following their 1-1 series draw against Caribbean side Barbados in May.
"I do not intend to be beaten by these countries which are ranked lower than us," she said.
