J'cans take HIT by storm

JAMAICA's contingent of martial artists returned home on Monday laden with 46 medals won at the Homestead International Tournament (HIT) in Miami, Florida.

Rising Sun Karate led the way with 41 medals, whose Khain Henry won five gold in the 6-7 category, upstaging his elder sibling, Lee-Michael, who won gold in traditional weapons and the Bring It Fight Challenge Belt.

Abigail Williams won three gold and a silver to lead the girls in 10-11 advanced.

Rising Sun's Jamaica Female Combined Martial Arts team member, Marissa Jones, won gold in 18 and over black belt traditional forms.

Meanwhile, Tyrique Tai-Loy of First Jamaica Zendo, a junior combined martial arts team member, won gold in 14-17 black belt continuous sparring.
