Reggae Boyz coach Theodore Whitmore has said he wishes to continue serving Jamaica after being learning that he will receive the Order of Distinction Officer Class at this October's National Honours and Award Ceremony.

The list of this year's awardees was named on Sunday, and Whitmore, who recently coached Jamaica to a runner up spot in the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament was one of several sports persons named.

"I give all praises to God Almighty without him it would not have been possible," Whitmore said.

The former national senior player added that it is his goal to continue lifting the nation.

"It is my fervent desire to continue to serve my country and community by contributing in all ways I can to uplift those who I come in contact with. This is another great achievement and there are a lot more to come."
