Malta club signs five Jamaicans from Phoenix All Stars

Maltese football club St Andrews FC is reporting that is has signed five Jamaican footballers to play for their club in the Malta professional league in the upcoming season.

In separate posts on its Facebook page, St Andrews named Jamaicans Kemar Reid; Kevaun Atkinson; Travis Blagrove; Ricardo Martin, and Nicholas Maclaren among its line-up for the new season of the Malta Professional League.

All five players are from the Craig Butler-run Phoenix All Stars Academy.

The club said strikers Reid and Atkinson had "impressed" after scoring 15 goals in 10 matches between them in the pre-season, and it was therefore "delighted to announce the signatures".

The 24-year-old Blagrove will play as Centre back. "We are very happy to have him on board," said the club's page.

St Andrews FC was founded in 1968 and was promoted to the Malta Premier League after promotion from the First Division. The club finished seventh in the 2015/2016 season.
