Thompson hints at 2018 strategy
Though it's still more than half a year away, Olympic double sprint champion Elaine Thompson said she isn't yet certain if she will compete in next year's Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
In the past, some of Jamaica's best athletes have not competed in the Games.
Thompson, who won the 100m and 200m at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, said its way too soon to know if she will make the journey.
The Games will take place in April, several months before Jamaica's traditional National Senior Championships are held to select teams for various events.
"I have not thought about that yet. I have to speak with my coach. That is in 2018. I want to finish 2017 first and then move forward," she told STAR Sports.
Thompson, who won the women's 100m at yesterday's Birmingham Diamond League meeting, said that her strategy in 2018 will be different. .
"Next year is a different strategy and that depends on the plan. We have not focused on that yet even though it is part of the job. I just want to finish this season and look forward after that," she said.
