Having netted a team-high four goals so far this season, attacking midfielder Shaquiel Bradford will lead Camperdown into battle against Hydel in their top-of-table Group C Manning Cup match at the Caymanas field today.
Diminutive Bradford, who has scored in both of Camperdown's victories in the group so far, has been a thorn in the side of opposing defenders with his swift dribbling skills and clever off-the-ball movements.
Bradford, 16, playing in the Manning Cup for the first time this season, netted a hat-trick against Cumberland in his team's opening game.
Christopher Bender, coach of Camperdown, told STAR Sports that a lot will rest on the shoulders of Bradford as they seek their third straight win in the competition.
"In stature, he is very small but he is very confident and he is very brave," said Bender. "He is playing very well now and, hopefully, will continue for us for the remainder of the season," he said.
Camperdown, who missed last year's semi-finals by a mere three points, lead the group with six points, on goal difference, ahead of Hydel. They have scored seven goals, conceding once, while Hydel have scored four goals, letting in two.
Bender said they have been playing well so far this season and expects a good all-round performance from his team this afternoon.
"My team is quietly confident in their performance because we have played well in our last two games," he said.
"The Hydel team is a quality team because we always have tough games against them and, hopefully, we can turn the tables on them," he added.
Along with Bradford, Camperdown will be relying heavily on the likes of senior players Tumekie Blackwood, Rantano Roberts, Jamoi Topey, Lotteam Speid, Odean Wilson and Roshane Clarke to lead them to victory.
