Simply the best! - Humble Lion coach Merron Gordon hails Foster as RSPL's top striker
Humble Lion head coach, Merron Gordon, said that the team's latest acquisition, Craig Foster, formerly of Reno, is the best striker in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL). Gordon said that he believes that the striker would not only make the Clarendon club better and help them achieve their ambitions, but anticipates that with the improved supporting cast, he should score a lot more goals than he was able to tally while at the Westmoreland club.
"I don't think he is one of the best. I think he is the best striker in our league. With some motivation, hard work and quality ball out of midfield, he should be scoring a lot more," Gordon exclaimed.
"He will add a lot to our game, depending on what I want. I play 4-3-3 with a lone striker, so that quality to hold up the ball for the transition to happen smoothly, he will add to that," Gordon said.
"Reno hasn't scored a lot of goals and he is on 10 this season, with none coming from the penalty spot. So that tells you about the quality of the player," he noted.
Gordon also added that the best thing about Foster is that he has a host of experience but is just reaching the peak in his career.
"The thing I like about Foster is he is only 26 years old and he has been scoring goals since he was about 18 (years) in this league. So even though he has that experience, he has some amount of youth left in him, and athletes reach their peak at 26 to 27 years old, so he should be on top of his game," he stated.
Foster has been the league's most consistent striker over the last five years, wining the Golden Boot title in the 2014/2015 season with 20 strikes to his name. He has also finished in the runner-up spot on three occasions.
