Allan Ottey to make W'house debut tonight

Waterhouse coach Donovan Duckie says former Montego Bay United winger Allan Ottey could make his debut for the Drewsland club against UWI in their Monday night game at the Drewsland Mini Stadium.

Duckie believes the former national under-20 player, along with Cordel Benbow, will make the team a greater attacking threat.

"Allan Ottey and Cordel Benbow give us more offensive balance. Transitional awareness is key to our philosophy and these players have those characteristics. They are young, very coachable and still have ambitions of playing for the national team and getting overseas contracts," he said.

"Cordel has settled in but Allan is yet to play. Hopefully, you will see him in our next fixture against UWI," he added.

NOT ETHICAL

The club is also looking to add MoBay midfielder Jermaine Woozencroft and Humble Lion's Romario Campbell before the transfer window closes. But Duckie said both players remain with their clubs for now.

"Woozencroft is a player we shortlisted and have interest in. But presently Woozencroft is a Montego Bay player, so it is not ethical to speak with him. If needs be, we will contact his club or agent. 'Rum Rum' (Campbell) is presently a Humble Lion player. He has a contract and we cannot speak about 'Rum Rum' unless we contact the club about that move," he reasoned.

Although Duckie believes winning the title is beyond them this season, a semi-final berth would be considered a successful season.

"When you are employed to a board there is always a list of objectives. When I came there they asked me to avoid relegation. Then they wanted us to be in mid-table so we can compete. We have moved away from relegation and we are mid-table and being competitive. So we have achieved the two objectives.

Our ambition is to continue to be competitive, continue to win games. But if we should win the title, I would be very surprised to achieve that in such a short time. Because to win the title is not our short-term plan. That is our medium and long-term plan. So I will be very surprise if we win, but we are being very competitive and that is the most important thing," he said.
