Benbow revels in hot goal-scoring form
Cardel Benbow's hot goal streak ensured Waterhouse their third consecutive win inside a week. Benbow came up big again when he netted in a 1-0 victory against Tivoli Gardens in the Red Stripe Premier League at the Edward Seaga Complex yesterday.
Last Monday, the former St George's College Manning Cup champion scored in his team's 2-1 win against relegated Sandals South Coast, then, last Thursday, he got the winner against Portmore in a 1-0 result. And, yesterday, Benbow was at it again when he scored the winning goal.
Waterhouse pushed to 44 points, while Tivoli remained in third place on 46 points in the battle for the top six play-off spots.
"First and foremost, I have to thank God for what he has done for me. It is a tremendous feeling to score the winner for my club today," Benbow told STAR Sports.
"I just have to continue working hard in training in order to perform better in-game. It takes a lot of work and dedication, so I'm not surprised to be scoring and helping the team move forward," he said.
"Each game that I play, the next day I hit the gym to get the best recovery for the next game. The games are close, so I just have to take care of my body and keep focused," the 22-year-old added.
We just have to focus on our game and take each game as it comes. It is in our hands, so we will continue to put in the work in order to get the desired results," Benbow, who returned to Waterhouse from the United Soccer League in January, concluded.
