Morgan named Waterhouse interim coach

July 17, 2018

President of Waterhouse FC, Donovan White, says that Akeno Morgan will be interim head coach at the start of the pre-season training until a permanent coach is named.

Morgan was Duckie's assistant as the St Mary native guided the Drewsland-based team to the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) final. "Akeno Morgan will be in charge until a coach is named." When pressed further, White also said, "When we name a coach, we name a coach."

The post was made vacant as Duckie left for greener pastures when he turned down Waterhouse's offer for a long-term contract and signed a three-year deal with RSPL debutant Mount Pleasant Football Academy.

In an article published in THe STAR on July 6, Waterhouse chairman Bruce Bicknell accepted his former coach's decision to opt out of a three-year verbal agreement.

After Duckie moved on for the job at Mount Pleasant, Bicknell had said that: "We began to look already for a new coach. We have three [prospects, but I don't want to reveal any names right now."

Duckie officially penned a contract with Mount Pleasant after he had earlier denied being involved with the St Ann-based club.
