NACAC Champs a stepping stone for Williams

Danielle Williams will be looking to continue her impressive form when she competes in the semi-finals of the women's 100m hurdles at the 2018 North American Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Senior Championships tonight at 8:10 in Toronto, Canada.

The Johnson C. Smith graduate won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Australia and registered a personal best 12.48 seconds on the Stockholm leg of the Diamond league series in June.

And although she could be gifted a wild card to participate at next year's IAAF World Championships if she wins tomorrow's final scheduled to be run at 4:55 p.m., Williams is solely focused on putting together well executed races before the Diamond League final in Brussels.

"This Championship is just another race in preparation for the Diamond League final," Williams told STAR Sports. "I don't really know much about the wild card. For me, it's an opportunity to get in another race."

Williams is ranked third in the Diamond League standing with 23 points, behind Americans Brianna McNeal and Sharika Nelvis with 38 and 34, respectively.

She also believes the Championships will assist in her preparation for next year's IAAF World Athletics Championship in Qatar.
