'More success with Umbro' - Ricketts - Jamaica Football Federation unveils vibrant new kits

President of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Michael Ricketts said the Reggae Boyz will be sporting their new Umbro jerseys when they take on Ecuador in a friendly international match in New Jersey in the United States today.

Speaking at last evening's unveiling ceremony, which was held at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in Kingston, Ricketts said he hopes that the new partnership will be paired with more success for the national programme.

"We are excited and we do hope that this will be a venture that will auger well for the future of the sport," said Ricketts. "The good thing, and it seems quiet timely, is that our first Nation League game will be played on Sunday and we will be wearing our new kit and what is also interesting to note is the our senior Reggae Girlz, who are on the verge of possible global glory, could very well qualify in our new kit."

"We are very excited about the partnership because Umbro has come on board and we seem to have a pretty descent relationship. There are a number of things that we realise was not a part of the arrangement were filled in at a later date and so we are hopeful that this relationship will last and that the sponsorship will bear fruit," said the JFF boss.

Josue Reyes, marketing manager Umbro, said his company is looking forward to working with the JFF.

"For us it is very important because Jamaica is the most important team in the Caribbean and one of the most important teams in CONCACAF and so for us it is a big deal," said Reyes.

 

COUNTRY'S ICONIC FLAG

 

The male jerseys were modelled by national players Marvin Morgan Jr and Dushane Beckford, while the female jerseys were unveiled by Reggae Girlz players Sashana Campbell and Chris-Ann Chambers. The jerseys will be available at Western Sports for purchase and can also be sourced at www.jff.live.

The new home jersey is in Jamaica's traditional vibrant gold colour, with a striking black, green and gold taping design on the sleeves inspired by the Umbro double diamond logo and the country's iconic flag. On the body of the shirt there is a subtle embossed graphic inspired by the palm trees that line the Jamaican coastline. Black shorts with the colourful taping trim and yellow socks complete the home look.

The away shirt is sure to start some lively conversations amongst football fans, with an eye-catching design inspired in equal parts by current trends for strong graphics and the vibrant culture of Jamaica.

A black jersey with green collar and sleeve trims, it features a vivid, colourful graphic on the mainbody that draws from the colours of the Jamaican nation, the energy of the island's culture and Umbro's timeless diamond logo. The Reggae Boyz nickname features on the back neck in yellow, while a tonal black version of the home kit's taping design runs down the sleeves of the shirt and also features on the accompanying yellow shorts.

Black socks complete the away strip.

Both home and away kits are crafted from lightweight performance materials designed for movement and breathability.

The JFF in December last year signed a US$4 million (J$503 million) deal with Umbro, which replaced Romai as the federation's kit provider.
