Humble Lion to put pressure on RSPL leaders
Having won three out of their last four matches in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) competition, Humble Lion's head coach Andrew Price says they are seriously looking to challenge the leaders for the top spot at the end of the third round.
Humble Lion are currently fourth on 42 points, eight behind leaders Waterhouse and Mount Pleasant Academy.
However, the Clarendon-based side has a game in hand on their opponents. Portmore United are third in the standings with 42 points with two matches in hand.
With seven matches to go before the end of the final round, Price said his team has rounding in form at the right time and therefore they will be pulling out all the stops to ensure that they catch the leaders.
"What we are going to do is to treat every game from now until the end of the final round as a cup game and go for all three points," said Price.
"We are not just looking to maintaining our spot in the top six but to challenge the leaders because they are only eight points ahead of us but we have a game in hand," he said.
"I think there is a possibility that we can go on a winning streak and pile some pressure on the leaders and see which one of them falter," said the veteran coach.
Price noted that once his attackers convert their goal-scoring opportunities in front of goal then everything will fall into place for them.
"I definitely think that we are playing well at this moment because we have won three games straight and so I think we are playing good football but we just need to be a lot more clinical in front of goal," said Price.
"I think that once you are in the top six then you have a chance to challenge for the Premier League title and so we know that once you are in there, then our chances are good as the others," he said.
