Fighting the urge to masturbate
I have written to you before in the article 'Addicted to porn and masturbation'. I must say, it took a very long time to break these habits but I have now come to the realization that porn was never the problem at all, because I discovered that the urge to masturbate was definitely much stronger than the urge to watch porn.
I found myself being able to not watch porn for weeks, but sometimes I caved in, and still I tried again. I am happy that I have not watched porn intentionally since the start of the year, with the exception of annoying Internet ads with some pictures from Instagram and other social media.
I wanted to make a fresh start this 2019, and I did so by turning my life over to the Lord. But as you said in your reply, there is no mention of masturbation in the Bible. I did my own research as well and I did not find any. I tried to go without it for multiple weeks but still caved in. As it relates to porn, even though you said there was no mention of it in the Bible, as well as not speaking as if it was right, I think it may be sinful, depending on the circumstances.
I remember a part in the Bible that says something about everything may be good but not beneficial, and also something about lust. Since lusting is a result of watching porn, then it is likely to be an activity that God would not want me to practise. I am glad I was able to train myself to get over it permanently.
Thank you for your advice, Pastor Aaron Dumas. It has really helped me in my spiritual journey and quest for knowledge and devotion to God. I hope I will find a wife someday.
I appreciate your letter, and I give God thanks that I have been able to help you. I will continue to pray for you, and I wish you well. Continue to read your Bible every day, pray, and go to church. God is able to strengthen you.
The Apostle Paul says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Continue to hold on to God. If you do, you will experience victory after victory. Please, let me hear from you again.
