Prisoner wants beautiful Jamaican lady

November 25, 2019

Dear Pastor,

I really enjoy your column in THE STAR and your responses to the many letters. The reason I write to you is, I have been incarcerated for over two decades and I cannot count the prayers I have sent up asking God to please bless me with a God-fearing, beautiful lady from the island of Jamaica, one that can look beyond my faults, and love me for the loving guy that I am.

In these years of loneliness, I have always honoured God and maintained my dignity, integrity, self-respect as a man and stayed away from all the negative and derogatory things that have closed my eyes all these years.

I am not a bad-looking guy. I am 54 years old. I have tried every kind of pen pal services and never had luck. Some years back, I was writing this beautiful lady from Kingston for a few months. I really enjoyed her friendship, but she quit writing me because of my honesty, and, I am sure, my time.

I can never change my mistakes of yesterday, but it is my steps of today that edits my journey of tomorrow, if it is the Lord's will. I thank God that after all these years, I can begin to see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Pastor, how are the ladies from the island? Are there any special customs that a man from the United States needs to know in meeting and trying to date a lady there?

I am sorry for taking up so much of your time. Whatever advice you have to help me with will be a blessing. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Dear L.M.,

Thanks for reading THE STAR. I regret hearing that you are incarcerated. I hope that prison would help you to become a better man. While you are there, use the time to study and to learn a skill; and to think and meditate upon Christ who came into this world to redeem sinners. You say that you are looking for a Jamaican woman to become your wife. But you know very little about Jamaican women. Are you learning about them by reading THE STAR?

Well, I can tell you that Jamaican women are indeed very beautiful, ambitious, intelligent, caring, loving and hard-working. They love good men. And they will fight for their men. They don't stand for foolishness. There are more women who are in top jobs than ever before. Every ambitious Jamaican woman is trying to further her education. They will coorporate with men, but they are not prepared to be pushed around by them. And they like hard-working men.

Jamaican women are classy. They like to dress well. They don't like men who are mean and lazy. Jamaican women are not beggars. Too many American men believe that Jamaican women are glad to have relationships with them because they are Americans. If that was true in past years, that is not true now because they have learnt that education is the best way forward. So, the women try to get a college and university education, and many of them are in top jobs.

I would say to you, sir, if you are trying to get a Jamaican woman, don't think that because you are an American they would gladly accept you. Your education will mean more to them than the little money you have in your pocket. And, by the way, Jamaican women know that the average American don't have money. And even when they come to Jamaica, it is their credit card they rely on; and they spend years to pay the debt they have incurred on the credit card.

You are incarcerated and you have not said whether you own a home, whether you have children, and whether you are burdened with debt. These women in Jamaica would want to know what you have to offer.

Having said the above, I could promise you that if anyone wants to correspond with you, I would pass on your address to them.
