Eat healthy to prevent muscle contractions

July 30, 2020

Dear Pastor,

I am a frequent listener of your programme and enjoy your variations of topics. They are informative, interesting and provides me, and I'm sure others, with much laughter.

A few nights ago I heard one of your callers talked about experiencing the discomfort of muscle contractions. The caller also mentioned that there is no cure for it.

I would like to inform the caller that there are many things that cause muscle contractions. One of such reasons relate to potassium deficiency.

Potassium is an essential mineral that has many roles in your body. It helps regulate muscle contractions, maintain healthy nerve function and regulate fluid balance.

Eating potassium-rich foods such as ripe bananas, sweet potatoes, avocados (pears), carrots, and red kidney beans will help.

Drinking orange juice and coconut water also helps. Most of all, drinking plenty of water will also help to remedy the muscle contractions. Hope this helps.

Dear P.,

First of all, I thank you for listening to the Dear Pastor show and for providing some helpful suggestions. It is a fact that certain foods are used to prevent muscle contractions. It is often said that one's food is one's remedy and one's remedy is one's food.

The things that you have listed greatly help to prevent or minimise muscle contractions. One should always use a portion of these foods every day, if possible.
