Vybz PARTY WELL SUPPORTED
Sizzla and Vybz Kartel - Carlington WilmotTHE THIRD STAGING of Vybz Kartel's birthday bash held at the La Roose Entertainment Complex, Port Henderson Road, Portmore, St. Catherine on Saturday was a well-supported affair. The event which paid homage through a galaxy of stars did live up to its theme 'A Vibes Party'. At about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, patrons were trickling into the venue as the organisers and the sound systems including Stone Love, Swatch International, Cash Money and Metro Media took care of the early proceedings. The selectors attempted to lift the spirits of those who were trickling in by encouraging them to do the latest dances such as 'Signal the Plane', 'Higher Level' and 'Mad Walk'. This segment belonged to the veteran selector Sky Juice, who drew many 'forwards' from the audience, which had built up appreciably by then. Then it was the announcement for the stage show at 4:45 a.m. when the place went under siege by deejays such as Predator, who went on the stage with Mad. He didn't stay long however. He left feeling disappointed because he wasn't getting the anticipated response from the masses. Then came Alley Cat, Danny English and Desperado. However, the real spark was Tuggy Tuggy, a Caucasian deejay out of England. The spark ignited however with the entrance of Bling Dawg. The fire was stoked with the appearance of the birthday boy Vybz Kartel. He launched into one of his latest songs Tek B...y Gal and the audience, which was comprised of mostly female patrons displayed how skillful they were, at least at dancing. Sizzla was called on-stage and the deejay went on a 'tour' of the ladies' parts. He burnt Babylon and segued into his hit song Karate while the crowd cheered. When it would appear that things could not have got any better, Kartel, who by then was playing the perfect host, called on stage 'The Warlord'. Bounty Killer entered the stage and the crowd erupted chanting "Killa, Killa". He shouted his renowned, "People Dead", and after that it was 'musical murder'. He gave them, Cyan Believe Me Eyes, Fed Up and a host of other crowd favourites. The proceedings then became a game of passing the microphone amongst Bling Dog, Sizzla, Killa and the birthday boy, Kartel. All in all it was a good promotion, punctuated with artistes performing short and spicy sets.
