Irresponsible parenting

The Editor, Madam;

I was horrified and distressed to hear of the barbaric attack on a young male student at Dunoon Technical High School. Whereas I was not surprised, as this behaviour is par for the course in Jamaica, it is difficult for me to accept that his father, suspecting the boy is homosexual, was responsible.

Surely, this man ought to be arrested and charged with inciting a riot, premeditated malice or inciting others to cause grievous bodily harm. But, I suppose that won't happen. Perhaps if we would amend the Constitution to provide equal protection for all citizens, people such as that boy's father would be punished if they ever became violent, (sigh), but that is a dream.

I fervently hope the young man has found support and will be able to continue his studies.

I am etc,
