The affectionate two Patrice and Kerice Clarke

The Clarke twins - Contributed

ONE DISTINCTIVE THING about twins Patrice and Kerice Clarke, is their determination to be individuals.

The 13-year-old girls admit that although they enjoy each other's company as well as spending time together, they are keen to be different. "We have different ideas and personalities although we both like creative things," said Kerice. "We no longer dress alike often but we do sometimes when we want to give trouble."

To emphasise how different they are, Kerice tells THE WEEKEND STAR that she enjoys doing household chores. Her sister Patrice, however, dislikes any form of housework. "That's one thing that I'm not good at," says Patrice, the younger twin. "I'm a bit lazy and I don't like to work. I love to dance and do creative things."

Always smiling

Relatives describe the girls as being hard to please but are always smiling or laughing at the same time. Patrice admits that she and her sister often speak and laugh simultaneously.

Their mother, Yvette Marshall, describes them as being loving towards each other. "Them a bit too loving sometimes but it's a wonderful experience raising them and watching them grow up," she says.

Patrice reveals that even though she and her sister are affectionate towards each other they sometimes have disagreements. Interestingly, both girls say that whenever they are apart one of the things they miss about each other is the disputes they get into. These disagreements, they say, are rare.

Separate lives

Still, they say they spend almost every chance they get together since they know that one day they will go their separate ways. Kerice, for instance, says that in primary school she and her sister were always placed in the same class. But, since attending Holy Childhood they have been in separate classes. "I think they probably feel we will separate one day, that's why they are preparing us," she says.

"I guess they want us to be independent," Patrice adds. "We have different ideas on everything and our personalities are different so that's probably another reason."

But still they spend most of their free time at school together. "We are always seen together and we spend most of the time we have together," says Kerice.

However, while striving to be different the twins say they have no regrets about having each other as they are not only sisters but friends as well.
