Caring for AIDS victims

THE EDITOR, Madam

Every pastor has a passion for a certain area of his/her ministry and it would be fair to conclude that the Reverend Patrick Cunningham's passion falls in the area of care and concern for persons in suffering. The area of suffering most attended to by Rev. Cunningham is AIDS.

Christ Church in Vineyard Town, under the direction of Rev. Cunningham, in recent years has helped to raise money and the level of awareness for persons suffering with HIV/AIDS.

Rev. Cunningham even takes his passion further by choosing to lecture in a specialised course for counsellors in the area of care for AIDS sufferers at the United Theological College.

The church has been accused many times of 'turning the blind eye'. However, in the area of care and concern for AIDS suffers the church has been quite responsive.

I would like to commend any individual or organisation presently involved in any programme of care and concern for AIDS suffers.

I hope that more individuals and organisations will start a relentless campaign against a disease that must be one of the seven last plagues of mankind.

I am etc.,

HUGH ANDERSON BLAIR
