MASSAGE PARLOURS AND a chance to watch live sex on stage are not the only attractions that Port Henderson Road in Portmore has to offer. The services of prostitutes can also be obtained on the 'back road', but at high prices.
Checks by THE STAR indicate that the services of hookers can be obtained for between $2,000 and $5,000 depending on the client's needs. Rates at the higher end of the scale are for what is considered a 'full house' package that includes all forms of sex. Regular sex goes for about $2,000. Prospective clients use the services of nearby motels.
Investigations into the flesh trade on the unofficial red light district took THE STAR to the location. As soon as we arrived, a member of THE STAR team was approached by a young woman who asked us if we wanted to do business.
She eventually disclosed that by business she meant she was offering sex starting at $2,000. However, for that cost the client has to foot the hotel bill as she did not enjoy 'conducting business out in the open'. She also suggested that hotel rooms could be had at discounted rates. "Nuh worry 'bout dat (hotel room rates), we an' di hotel dem have an arrangement so we get rooms at a reduced rate."
She declined to say how much money she had made for the night or her preferred hotel but she did say that she used all the hotels on the strip depending on a client's preference.
On a second visit, THE STAR team encountered a higher priced prostitute.
Royal treatment
Karenwho spoke after getting 'a drink money' said that she charged $3,500 but was open to negotiation. She said for that figure her clients had the option of paying the hotel fee. That being the case the client would receive royal treatment - meaning he would have all the types of sex he desired. If she had to pay for the room, vaginal sex was the only option.
Karen told the news team that she could get additional prostitutes for each member at the same rate.
A third prostitute however said that she charged $5,000. "How much yuh seh?" a member of the news team asked.
"$5,000, but me can tek off someting depend pon how much yuh have. Mi can pay fi di room to if yuh nuh have nuh money pon yuh," she said with a frown.
She, too, was unwilling to divulge how much money she made nightly but added that she used all the hotels on the strip and had 'arrangements' with persons at each.
Checks by THE STAR revealed that hotel rooms on the strip could be had from a low of $700 for a few hours to more than $2,000 for the night.
However, hotel owners were surprised to hear of the 'arrangements' between the prostitutes and their establishments. They said they knew of no such agreement and said they would dismiss any of their workers involved in such activity.
