TODAY'S LEAD STORY talks about the dismissal of two long-standing workers the principal and a teacher at a basic school. The workers who have given more than a decade of service, were fired from the school a little after a Baptist church took over administration.
Nobody seems to be taking responsibility for their dismissal. The school board says their hands are clean, and the church board is tight-lipped. The teachers insist that they were dismissed because they are not Baptist. Head of the Baptist Union says that they don't fire teachers simply because they are of a different faith. Therefore, it must be a deeper reason.
However, while there is a lot of controversy surrounding the subsequent take-over, the point is that two teachers are out in the cold, claiming they were dismissed without a plain reason. In addition, several parents no longer feel the school has a stable enough school environment for their children, and thus have pulled students from the institution .
This supposed power-play will affect the students. What happens to them?
Often times the institutions forget what is their greatest asset. Just as change in administration in major corporations affect the workers, so too are the student body of an administration affected when there is trouble at the school.
Without the students, there is no reason for a school. The school needs to get its house in order for the sake of these students.
