"Its very spectacular. We came here and did what we had to do," a proud Captain Ronald Emmanuel, told THE STAR.
The team who spent three years preparing for the match said they were motivated by last year's loss to St. Jago high. "Last year the paper reported that they trashed us. Every night before we go to sleep, we look at the story to remind ourselves of our goal," Peter Brown, a team member said.
From the start of the match Norman Manley established a four point lead over Hampton. At the end of the first segment Norman Manley had 15 points while Hampton had 11. Norman Manley's points standing was later increased to 16 after they were granted one point for an English question that was ruled wrong.
In segment two Norman Manley increased their lead by scoring six points in the first minute, two in the second minute and three in the third minute.
Competitive
Hampton scored three points in its first minute, six in its second and three in its third minute. At the end of the second round Norman Manley was ahead with 27 points while Hampton was on 23.
Segment three was very competitive, with Hampton going close to passing Norman Manley several times. But wrong answers eventually lead to their defeat as they only gained six points from that round.
Norman Manley who answered all their questions correctly gained 12 points to claim victory .
Disappointed members of the Hampton High team, who went to the quarter finals last year, found it difficult to speak with THE STAR. However, some team members said they tried but their effort was not good enough. "Norman Manley has a good side, they played well and they won but God knows best," Rana Smalling a team member said.
Emmanuel said his team will be working on its weaknesses as it prepares for its next match and hopes to advance as far as possible in the competition.
