Both teams fought to the bitter end, but Clarendon came out victorious, winning the match 55-40.
DeCarteret's coach, Ralston West, said, "We were expecting a very tough match, but overall we played very well. Clarendon did better in the buzzer section, so they were the better team with that. But we do plan on working on our buzzer section, and French for next year."
In the first section, Clarendon College gained 15 points while DeCarteret ended with 11. They, however, gained one point for their definition of the colloquial term 'sapsy' easy and simple giving them 12 points.
Clarendon quicker
In the second section, DeCarteret ended with 30 points, while Clarendon ended with 39. In the match's final section, both schools played well. However, Clarendon was quicker to the buzzers and gained 16 points, placing them at 55, and DeCarteret at 40.
Clarendon's coach, Kevin Braham, said, "Our expectations were very high, but DeCarteret was a very tough team. We came here hoping to play a good match and win."
