Man pleads innocent to gun, ammo charges

By RASBERT TURNER, Star Writer

MARK WALKER OF North Street in Old Harbour, St. Catherine, was remanded in custody in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on a charge of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

According to investigating officer Detective Constable Lincoln Mehado of the Old Harbour Police Station, on March 30 at about 3:30 a.m., Walker was seen in Old Harbour in a red 1998 Honda CRV sport utility vehicle.

His action aroused the suspicion of the police who searched the vehicle and a jennings 9mm pistol, along with a magazine containing six 9mm rounds, was found in a glove compartment. He was arrested and charged.

Walker pleaded not guilty before Resident Magistrate Lorna Errar Gayle yesterday. His lawyer, Churchill Neita Q.C., told the RM that he has not received certain instructions and as such is asking for another mention date.

This was granted by the RM who has remanded Walker until April 12.
