Two shot dead in Spanish Town

By RASBERT TURNER, Star Writer

SPANISH TOWN:

THE SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine branch of Super Plus Food Stores had to close its shutters last night after gunmen shot dead two men and injured another in the supermarket parking lot, less than 100 metres from the police station.

Reports reaching THE STAR say that at about 7:30 p.m., shots were heard and this sent customers scurrying for cover. In the aftermath, 30-year-old Andrew Frey of Job Lane, St. Catherine, was found suffering from gunshot wounds, he died on the spot. Two other men, who were also shot, were admitted to hospital and one, identified as Damion Johnson, from White Church Street in Spanish Town was pronounced dead.

THE STAR learnt that the men were approached by three men who drew handguns and started to fire shots, hitting Frey and the other men. Frey, THE STAR discovered was earlier at the Spanish Town Police Station. His Escalade motor vehicle was seen parked near the scene of the shooting.

Several persons who gathered on the scene expressed concerns about how daring the gunmen seemed to be. The parking lot is adjoining the premises of the Spanish Town Police Station.

The Spanish Town police, who are investigating, said so far, they have not established any motive in the shooting. Dozens of 9mm spent shells were found at the scene.

Frey and Johnson were the third and fourth persons to be killed in the Old Capital yesterday. Sixty-one persons have been killed in the division since January.
