THE PRELIMINARY ENQUIRY for Matt Myrie, the doctor charged with sexually assaulting a female patient at the Kingston Public Hospital was postponed until May 3.
Myrie, a 31-year-old gynaecologist had his $500,000 bail extended until that date when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court. He is charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of indecent assault arising from an incident at the Kingston Public Hospital earlier this year.
The preliminary enquiry was scheduled to begin today in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court but was postponed until the new date because the complainant was not brought.
Allegations are that on February 26, the complainant, a patient at the hospital, was summoned to the ultrasound room. While there, he reportedly fondled the patient and had sex with her on two occasions.
The matter was reported to the police and the doctor was arrested and charged after investigations were carried out.
